My answer to What is your most memorable cultural shock?

Answer by Desmond Last:

I was in the Northern Territory Australia. On my way to a new job working in a Gold Mine at Pine Creek and a workshop in Katherine.

I was waiting in the queue for the shower near Mataranka. It had been a four day drive from Sydney. I had only been in Australia for 12 months.

All the blokes were built like piles of bricks, tough looking, My turn came. I walked into the shower cubicle.

Arrggggh. It was alive. You name it and it was in there. A snake, spiders, cockroaches – a real zoo. I clamped my mouth shut and resisted the urge to run out screaming .

I walked out calmly. The next big bloke walked in, he looked as tough as nails.

Loved it. He ran out yelling. No way I am having a shower in there he yelled plus a few colorful expressions.

I could not stop laughing.
