The Winds of Change

America you have always endured and within that endurance is your perseverance and optimism.

In 2011 I rode a Harley-Davidson from Los Angeles to New York and then onto Canada and finally to Denver Colorado. Today I found some poetry that I had written on my journey. I was going to copy into this page – instead I wrote this. For you America.

America you have always endured and within that endurance is your perseverance and optimism.

That is who you are America.

Never have thee failed that which is sought of thee,

Always to the fore your best, never to the rear do you flee

Now America an evil stalks your every shadow

Each sorrow of death a mighty blow as if you to strike you down

But no, not America – a land blessed with the heart of the mighty

The soul of the free and a trojan spirit of democracy

Stand as one and there is nought that can defeat thee

Your pride to be a Nation United never a Nation Divided

Godspeed America be as one do not let Evil defeat thee

For God gives blessing to those who stand beside him.

Anzac Day 25 April 2019.

I have written two Poems. One I finished on Anzac Day and at 6.30 am on that day I stood alone on the Western side of the Anzac Bridge in Sydney and read out my Anzac Tribute.

I hold very strong views regarding the appreciation of those who are prepared to risk their lives to protect their Nation and its Citizens. Maybe it is because my father was in the RAF and served in Malta during WW2 – where he met my mother who like the rest of Malta was bombed daily by the Nazis in an attempt to make the People of Malta surrendered. They never did. I uphold the view that we as a People are judged on how we protect those who cannot protect themselves.

I am a writer. All I can do is write words that no others can write so that we all understand that it is not just a memory we are giving thanks to but our futures for which lives were given.

This poem I finished on Anzac Day and at 6.30 am on that day I stood alone on the Western side of the Anzac Bridge in Sydney and read out my Anzac Tribute.

Anzacs we seek that which you gave life for.

Anzacs. We seek thee from within the darkness of this today your dawn.

A rousing of our Nation with thee alongside for that which you did so aspire to be.

An aspiration of Nationhood born of independence, a stalwart toil and an undoubted bravery.

We stare into the ebb of darkness and from within a crimson of awakening are set afire by our own hopes which giveth pace to our dreams and a fulfillment of our horizons.

A fire of spirit that you our Anzacs have left as an eternal flame of sacrifice to ignite within us that which you so desired and fought for – a freedom and a future.

Today this fiery welcome to thee it doth be for the Anzacs and to all those who have giveth of life for their Peoples.

Is the USA partly responsible for the growth of ISIS?

That does not excuse the ISIS brutal killing of innocent people, particularly children.

https://www.quora.com/profile/Desmond-Last

I think we all are. We have all allowed ourselves to ignore the growing disparity between the region of the Middle East and the Western World. We choose to ignore the way in which the West has manipulated the Region for its own benefit.

ISIS was always going to happen under any name and even without ISIS misuse of the ‘Word of God’.

That does not excuse the ISIS brutal killing of innocent people, particularly children.

However, if we want to defeat the root cause of terrorism then we must defeat that which causes it; we must ensure human rights are equal for all.

ISIS have to be defeated. They have chosen a road which will kill anybody who stands in their way.

A lot depends on the Taliban and America. Time will tell.

Songs for Change Desmond Last

He bloodied red with his once life

An American Marine so far from his home

But with his Nation at his side

Afghanistan now his lasting memorial

These are the lyrics to the songs I have written that one day the United Nations General Assembly, the Security Council and the Torture Committee will hear as part of a testimony to a motion that seeks Justice for cruel and inhumane acts supported and allowed by a Prime Minister(s) and President(s) – Time, the Truth and the Law will decide the Justice.

Dying in Afghanistan

He lay there in the dust and sand

He bloodied red with his once life

An American Marine so far from his home

But with his Nation at his side

Afghanistan now his lasting memorial

And that of so many others too

His comrades they stood in silent salute

Their tears cried out …Why?

Why Mr President are we still dying in Afghanistan?

Mr President how many more Marines have to die

How many more Marines Mr President have to die in Afghanistan

Before there is an end to the war in Afghanistan?

In the hills stood a Taliban

His tears of pain for his daughter

For she lay alongside the Marine

Both dead from his IED – an IED that he had layed

In the hills a Taliban stood alone

His tears a flood of pain

When President Trump and Taliban

Will there be an end to the war in Afghanistan

When President Trump will the dying in Afghanistan end

When will there be a Peace in Afghanistan

Somewhere in Afghanistan

Somewhere in Afghanistan

Did die for his Nation

The Children and Young People of The Gaza and Israel

Children and Young People of the Gaza and Israel

It is a history that you fight over but it be your futures to lose

A history not of your making, but now it owns your future

No rockets of Hamas or bullets from Israel

Will your futures make, only more lives to die,

…………………………………………….more families to destroy.

Young People and Children of the Gaza and Israel

You own the future, it belongs to you,

Now you must also own the Peace

The future belongs to you

Let it be one of Peace not War

The future be yours to make

Let there be no more war

Young People and Children of the Gaza and Israel

Together take steps of Unity on the Road to Peace

There is no future without you together

Let words of Peace be stronger than bullets of hate and rockets of destruction

How many more children have to die

In the bloody war of Yemen

Do you give a damn Nikki Haley….Still writing

Has President Trump changed the way we think about politics forever?

There is a mood of change and President Trump is creating it.

HRUK12

This is my answer to this Question taken from Quora.

Not yet but there is a mood of change and President Trump is creating it. However,  just because he uses Twitter and does not feel constrained by Political Correctness does not make him a good President.

It is what you are able to achieve for your people that produces a change in Politics. Many Politicians come and go. We sigh with wilted expectation at yet another cheery sound byte at a school or construction site somewhere.

We listen to the spin and the promises and we walk away with resigned acceptance.

We watch the lows of internal corruption and then we witness the inevitable exit of yet another ‘all promise but no deliver’ politician – who never actually met with any of us only their own carefully choreographed supporters.

Then along comes President Trump. I was so enthusiastic about the prospect of change I campaigned for him in marginal key swing states to coincide with Obama and Clinton public meetings. By that I mean I sent out emails supporting President Trump from the United Kingdom where I live. I even wore my President Trump 2016 Campaign Baseball Cap.

Has President Trump made me view politics in a different way? Not yet. But I do say this:

‘I speak with a dim but beating soul of optimism when I say see a light and it doth hath the possibility of a brightness with intent. The people to lead out of a once darkening gloom’.

I used to say that I would not support any Political Party and I still do not. But I do support President Trump’s undoubted enthusiasm for the right of a Nation to choose its own destiny and for its people to make that destiny their fate and promise.

I am beginning to see President Trump’s change to Politics. First the collection of dynamic suport. Then the Strategy – the December USA National Strategy. Then the confirmation of the movement – the State of the Union Speech – I liked that he involved people in the Speech. Then slowly moving into an Economic and Industrial Strategy but all the time communicating to and involving the people.

As President Trump said in the State of the Union Speech it is the People who made America and it is the People who will make America great again.

Yes if President Trump has changed anything it is that I feel I can write to him and my letter will not be thrown in the bin – I have had two replies from the White House.

President Obama, and Prime Ministers May, Turnbull, Cameron, Rudd, Gillard and Abbott have never replied neither has Corbyn.

Are we able to put ideas to President Trump and will he listen and engage? Maybe. Time will tell. But there is a light…………………

Do you like America?

Yes. In fact if President Trump invited me to America so that I could further my writing to improve our World my bag is already packed.

HRUK12

Yes. In fact if President Trump invited me to America so that I could further my writing to improve our World my bag is already packed.

That is because here in the UK my writing to improve the World has been completely ignored and UK State Agencies have tried to silemce me.

The UK media will not report me – I could discover a cure for cancer and still they would not report me.

The UK Government does not respond to any of my communications regarding improving our World and they should because some of my work is on Counter Terrorism and ISIS.

But guess who has responded? The White House and President Trump. I have been to America four times and each time whenever I spoke to people my new ideas for a better world were encouraged.

America has attitude. The people want to improve their lives and that is what the UK lacks and why I like America.

X2WhiteHouse

Why am I ignored by Theresa May but not by President Trump?

Why is it that when I write to Theresa May I get no response. Even when I wrote about the way my 88 year old Mum was treated in a Care Home – Zero. But when I write to President Trump the White House responds.

Why don’t people like Donald Trump for his open and outspoken personality?

It is because President Trump will not accept that he has to conform to the view that Politics is for the Media, Government is for the Establishment, diplomacy is for deals under the table and the People are for ‘spinning’ to.

I answered this Question on Quora.

He went to the People of America and told them what he wanted a mandate for. Now he is delivering it.

Did those who are vocal in their criticism of him think he was going to be change just because he became President? He has never been a Politician what else was he going to do other than be himself.

In 2020 they will be able to vote for somebody else until then they have every opportunity to present ideas better than President Trump’s to the People.

I would rather have a Leader who is honest with the People about his views of the World than one who tells the media what it is he or she expects the People to believe.

Why does everyone underestimate the Taliban?

I do not underestimate the Taliban. A 16 year old boy who watched as the Russians invaded his homeland of Afghanistan in 1979 and who fought the Russians and then the American and the British as well the troops from many countries of the World is now 54. He is of the most experienced and battle hardened warriors in the World.

When a young Marine is on duty in Afghanistan he is facing an enemy with a cause, a history and a future. What is the young Marine going to die for?

I have total respect for the American Soldier who is prepared to die to stop the spread of terrorism. But it is not right that America alone should be prepared to do what many other countries do not do in order to stop a rising terror.

The Taliban and ISIS are not the same. One is a cause for a homeland the other is a ideology for a purpose that has no place in Afghanistan or anywhere else in the World. Yes the West has often used its military might for strategic vested interest rather than regional stability and ISIS was born out of a flawed American Foreign Policy but terrorism must be stopped.

The U.S will not defeat terrorism by fighting the Taliban. A dialogue must begin that will ensure the Taliban denounce terrorism and America stops bombing innocent Afghanistan civilians.

How do people around the world see the Syrian War?

How the war is viewed by people is very much going to be a subjective perspective

truth

This is my answer to this Question on Quora.

How the war is viewed by people is very much going to be a subjective perspective.

I was in my local supermarket in Bicester U.K not so long ago and I pointed out to the man next to me the horrors of the then Alleppo destruction and deaths. His answer was selfish in that he sought to remove the deaths of innocent civilians by saying that ‘they are always fighting we should leave them to it’.

Many people seek to hide the murder of innocent civilians from their conscience by putting the blame on the Syrians themselves.

However, as one who has been subjected to the physical threat of a Goverment I know how difficult it is to protect yourself from the State and its Forces.

The innocent Civilians in Syria cannot rise up against an armed militia, they cannot just walk into the United Nations Security Council and say to Russia stop bombing us. They cannot protest in the streets of Damascus where Assad’s Security Police will photograph and video them so that at the dead of night they can be taken away never to be seen again.

When Hillary Clinton decided to arm the rebels in order to ensure that Iran’s militia and support of Assad was countered she did not do it for the Syrians she did it for Israel. America must stop taking sides in Syria so too Russia.

Syria is all that is wrong with the United Nations. It is a toothless tiger that provides costly ineffective rhetoric and no practical solutions. It needs urgent reform.

My own opinion of Syria is that Assad should be arrested and that the members of the Security Council should combine as one united force without taking sides to disarm the whole country. The amount of weaponry in Syria held by various factions means that a long-lasting Peace is unlikely.

I would expect that there are many like me around the World who are of the same opinion.
