What is the most important thing you have done?

It is ‘standing up to the monolithic power of a Government(s)’. I have had to stand firm in the face of extreme abuse of power by UK and Australian Government Agencies who condemned my right to write of the World as I saw and see it.

It is not easy to do so when you are alone with no help. Governments are ruthless and completely non-transparent and even more so when they are able to bully a person who only has his self-respect and belief in himself as protection.

The ‘contortion of circumstance’ they manufactured in an attempt to silence me was an Oscar deserving ‘Alice in Wonderland’.

Being threatened with the possibility of being put into a mental institution when there is nothing wrong with you is an absolute derogation of human rights by a system designed to scare you into silence.

I survived – and I have a letter confirming from a senior UK NHS doctor that there is nothing wrong with my mental health.

By attempting to silence me they have exposed their hypocrisy and total lack of accountability – that will change. That is what I have learned from their absolute failure in attempting to me stop me writing that they ‘must be held to account’. They are not as they believe they have become ‘God on Earth’.

It is important to me because one day I will face those Government(s) in a court of law.

On that day Government(s) will be taught a lesson. That lesson will be ‘There is only one legal system and it applies equally to all of us – including Prime Ministers and Presidents’.

Anzac Day 25 April 2019.

I have written two Poems. One I finished on Anzac Day and at 6.30 am on that day I stood alone on the Western side of the Anzac Bridge in Sydney and read out my Anzac Tribute.

I hold very strong views regarding the appreciation of those who are prepared to risk their lives to protect their Nation and its Citizens. Maybe it is because my father was in the RAF and served in Malta during WW2 – where he met my mother who like the rest of Malta was bombed daily by the Nazis in an attempt to make the People of Malta surrendered. They never did. I uphold the view that we as a People are judged on how we protect those who cannot protect themselves.

I am a writer. All I can do is write words that no others can write so that we all understand that it is not just a memory we are giving thanks to but our futures for which lives were given.

Anzacs we seek that which you gave life for.

Anzacs. We seek thee from within the darkness of this today your dawn.

A rousing of our Nation with thee alongside for that which you did so aspire to be.

An aspiration of Nationhood born of independence, a stalwart toil and an undoubted bravery.

We stare into the ebb of darkness and from within a crimson of awakening are set afire by our own hopes which giveth pace to our dreams and a fulfillment of our horizons.

A fire of spirit that you our Anzacs have left as an eternal flame of sacrifice to ignite within us that which you so desired and fought for – a freedom and a future.

Today this fiery welcome to thee it doth be for the Anzacs and to all those who have giveth of life for their Peoples.

Is Australia a good travel destination?

Yes it is but you should ensure that you learn a little about the geographical differences which promote cultural diversity and historical association.

Australia is so much more than the Harbour Bridge, the Opera House, Surfer’s Paradise and the Melbourne Casino.

In order to enjoy Australia you should travel through it rather than over it.

The train system from Adelaide to Darwin and Melbourne to Perth is an excellent comfortable method of enjoying the country and its people.

So too is a drive from Sydney to Melbourne via the Coastal Roads.

To enjoy a holiday in Australia you need a minimum of 4 weeks. However, if you are limited to a couple of weeks then ensure that you visit the areas that are inner city as they are full of cosmopolitan shopping and historical experiences. The photo is of King Street Newtown. The architecture displays the influence of immigrant groups on building design. It is similar in historical association to Brick Lane in London.

If you enjoy solitude and vast open spaces then the Northern Territory must be on your agenda.

Australia’s vastness is perhaps its most hidden appeal and one that should not be ignored during your visit.

In politics of Australia, why do people tend to bring up homeless people in response to asylum seekers?

For those outside of Australia it would appear to be almost deliberate that there are any homeless people and to some extent that is almost true.

Successive Governments have failed to produce policies which last longer than their term of Government and State Politics work against each other.

Australia’s refugee policy has become inhumane, ridiculous and very expensive. It has divided Australia as it offers no solutions only controversy.

Like most citizens of any country people want their own looked after first hence the homeless and asylum seekers debate.

These are my suggestions;

There are many buildings in Australia that lie empty and it would not be difficult to draft legislation that ensures every developer builds x number of social housing homes per x of commercial development.

The economies of scale of even a moderate commercial development of 10 homes would make building a social home less expensive than as a stand-alone construction.

Australia also needs an industrial strategy that provides value-added employment. It has bled it’s resources dry. Australia has a powerhouse in the sun and that too has the potential to provide thousands of jobs should Australia decide to become a net exporter of energy.

There are no doubt those who say Australia’s first priority should be to its citizens – to which I agree. But the relatively small amount of asylum seekers when processed can be quite easily absorbed with a minimum term of directed location by a country which still seeks legal immigrants.

What Australia needs is a Bi-Partisan refugee policy so asylum seekers are not subjected to Political football .

Unfortunately selfish Party Politics would appear to produce self-obsessed Party Policies which only produce the destructive forces of economic disunity and mediocre politicians.

If you had a user’s manual, what would it say?

It would contain a Health Warning for Governments and Media.

Particularly the U.K and Australian Governments and Media.

The Health Warning would state:

“Any attempt to incriminate Desmond Last by false testament, silence by legal and illegal means, censor by all efforts legal and otherwise and by doing so suppress the legal rights of Desmond Last will meet an immovable resistance, a complete and utter determination and a will never to give up”.

This will result in the application of every legal means to ensure the aforesaid Government’s) resignation in their entirety which will be witnessed with the complete approval of 7 billion Citizens of the World. For 8 years of writing to improve the lives of Peoples everywhere his efforts have been deliberately halted and blocked using every means possible by the said Governments. The same legal efforts will be applied to the owners and Directors of any media who have deliberately ensured his work has not been made available as would normally occur.
