We all want, or at least those of us who are sane, a World without nuclear weapons.
I am totally against them. But if I were Prime Minister of the U.K I would keep the ‘existing system’ for two reasons.
We do not know where all the nuclear weapons in the World are.
I would be able to sit at a table with other nuclear arms countries and negotiate an agreement to reduce the stockpiles.
Why throw away an opportunity and a defence without having anything to replace them with?
The U.K has a strategic position in the World. We are more of a target than most other countries.
Find all the nuclear weapons and the technology to locate them then get rid of ours using them to negotiate disarmament.
Corbyn is right to want to get rid of them. But he should not do so until we have maximised their security and disarmament potential.
As for the manifesto – no matter what Party they are only worth the paper they are printed on.
