Because unlike Theresa May Jeremy Corbyn does not hold the people of the United Kingdom in contempt.
Whilst Theresa May went yodeling in Switzerland as soon as she became Prime Minster, Corbyn went and out about speaking to the people of the United Kingdom to find out what it was they were in need of.
Corbyn has not ever stopped meeting with the People.
Theresa May has encapsulated herself in the Westminster Ivory Tower surrounded by her ‘Yes’ people. From there she has thrown the ‘Public’ morsels of democracy and crumbs of social justice.
Corbyn welcomes the election because he knows he will win.
That is the difference. To Corbyn we are ‘the people’ to May we the ‘Public’.
