My answer to What do Australians complain about the most?
Answer by Desmond Last:
Their Politicians. It is more than a national sport it is a disgrace.
Australia has the most intellectually challenged Politicians in the World who make those of the U.K appear to be Mensa Champions.
It has deep-rooted endemic Political Corruption at both National and State Level equaled only by that of the U.K.
Australia is a land of resources and people who want to work hard to ensure they have for their families the best they can afford.
Australia has set the bar with the ability of its people to work and live together. Be they from Lebanon, the U.K or Greece they all enjoy each others cultures. Unlike the U.K where multiculturalism has been squeezed into a shoe-box,
The potential for Australia is far greater than the majority of the countries in the World.
It has a land mass that requires careful planning in order to maximize its true potential. It has resources to be carefully mined not plundered.
It has the potential to provide Solar Energy to the whole of South Asia but has less Solar Panels than the average back garden of the U.K.
It has land by the millions of acres which can be turned from brown to green but instead lays at the wayside of Politicians with little or no imagination.
It has a landscape with a beauty in its isolation not known to the hurrying tourists who get carted from city to shopping mall to airport without seeing the true Australia.
It has an Aboriginal store of knowledge which is not used to care for the land.
It has an Aboriginal People who have no Government of their own or State or Territory of their own to return their lost Pride to them.
It has miles of empty beaches – but nowhere near Bondi Beach for the rushed tourists.
I have lived in Australia for 25 years. I am currently in the U.K looking after my 87 year old mum who is not well. To me Australia it is still the best country in the World.
But unless the People of Australia demand of their Governments a sensibility and application of legal duty that is totally absent from Australian Politics then it will become an Economic and Climate Change Wasteland.
