My answer to What is your most interesting encounter with police?

Answer by Desmond Last:

I was in my shower at 23 Boundary Street Darlington Sydney Australia. I was in the home I owned until the ANZ Bank evicted me without any notice or warning.

Into my shower burst 5 armed NSW Policeman. At the time the Commissioner of Police was Andrew Scipione. I had never been arrested or had any record of violence. I was a Justice of the Peace.

They said they had an order to take me to a Mental Institution for a Mental Health Review. When confronted with the full force of a Government and Police Force who are determined to shut you up you must always stay ice-calm. This I did.

The NSW Police were obviously concerned that I was going to escape down the plug hole. All five of them remained in the shower/loo until I had finished.

They stood there staring at me throughout my shower. I can only presume that that they were impressed by my physique.

This is where it got interesting. I might add I have no criminal record and had not received any prior notice this was going to occur.

As soon as I left my home they grabbed me and pushed me hard up against the closed doors of the waiting Police Van. I was handcuffed. It was not a light push.

There were people watching and they obviously wanted me to struggle – I of course remained very cool and calm. My advice to anybody in a similar situation is to remain as cool as possible.

After 2 weeks of absolute boredom and little interaction with anybody at the Mental Health Facility they let me go. Nobody ever explained why it had occurred. I never received anything in writing or any follow-up.

However the common theme whenever I have been confronted with similar circumstances is that my writing to want to improve the World is considered to be a sign of a mental illness.

I should add that a similar set of circumstances were applied to me twice in the U.K for again my writing. Now I have a letter issued by a senior Consultant of the Oxford NHS Trust clearly stating there is nothing wrong with my Mental Health. Why then has it ever been in question?

My writing must be Powerful as Governments seem determined to silence me. The pen is obviously mightier than the sword. Governments seem to want to make sure that nobody reads my work.

I will of course when my circumstances permit be seeking legal actions against the NSW Police and those who were involved in similar circumstances in the U.K.

America must welcome new writing that has new ideas for the World as what has happened to me in Australia and the U.K has never occurred when I was in the U.S

What is also interesting is that the media will not report what has happened to me.

The Legal Abuse of Power by our Governments has become exponential. We must all ensure that whenever they use the Police or any other Government Agencies against ‘We the People’ that we uphold our Human Rights.
