What shouldn’t I do in London?

My answer to What shouldn't I do in London?

Answer by Desmond Last:

When in London do not ever try to be a good citizen. Any visitor to the U.K must be warned that the U.K is ‘jobs worth’ world central. This is a particularly odious form of human grown in vast numbers in the U.K. Their pleasure is your discomfort and misery.

This is my ‘real-life’ illustration. I was staying in a hotel close to Victoria Station in London. I had not been back long in the U.K after 25 years in Australia. Therefore my exposure to ‘Nazi Britain’ was limited.

I was in a street at the rear of the hotel and noticed a foul smelling pile of rubbish next to an air-conditioner. I also at the same time saw a local Council worker complete with uniform and note-pad. I should add I am a former Department of Transport Vehicle Examiner so defect spotting is in my genes.

I politely pointed out the rubbish to him. ‘Not my Job’ he said. I questioned his reply. That was it. Scotland Yard was called, the riot Police were alerted and MI5 were warned in case I was a terrorist.

The Police arrived and they said it was not their job to ensure it was removed. I of course held my ground. I said that somebody should ensure the rubbish was removed. The Police by now were on full throttle just aching to use their Tasers.

They would not even make a phone call to the local Council or contact the owner of the property.

Unbelievable. I could see myself getting life imprisonment. I walked off.

So when in London never question authority. It will result in the Law being legally abused against you.
