Will there be original and new music in the future?

My answer to Will there be original and new music in the future?

Answer by Desmond Last:

That will depend on the likes of Simon Cowell. His talent shows and others like his have produced clone robot music. The only differentiation is the year of the music.

It must be very hard for new music to get past the Simon Cowell road block to new music.

As long as he and others like him are responsible for ‘new talent’ new music has stalled.

I watch his show last year. It was always about ‘ a gap in the market’ not about music to produce change.

Today’s music is boring, bland and conforming.

It is always the same. Boy meets girl, girl leaves boy, boy stares into sunset.

Where is the music about war, conflict, poverty, inequality, sexism, feminism, violence against women?

All those themes can produce music that stirs the soul and provokes thought and still be danced to.

Successful singers obviously live in a reality bubble that has no war or poverty. What boring lives they must lead.

Changing the world is not just about writing out yet another charity cheque so you can wear your designer clothes on the red carpet. It is about invoking change and challenging the Establishment.

The photo is of Helly Luv who sang a great song which upset ISIS so much that they threatened her life. Now that is music.

Go back to sleep U.K music we will wake you up after the World is a better place to live in.

Will there be original and new music in the future?
