Answer by Desmond Last:

Class division is more entrenched in the U.K than in any other country of the World. What should be of even more concern to the Citizens of the United Kingdom is that it is getting worse.

The House of Lords has more members than ever. Over 800 Lords get paid £300 each to sit in the House of Lords each day. They do not have to speak or even remain for a minimum amount of time. They are not elected by the Citizens and they never consult the People for their views.

Most U.K Citizens have never met a Lord or Baron etc.

They do not represent the cultural and ethnic mix and certainly do not represent young people.

The Labour Party – the Party of the Working People – which is against class division has members in the House of Lords – a disgrace. If I were the leader of the Labour Party I would ensure the House of Lords was boycotted.

No attempt is made to reform this out of date chamber full of people. Many who have no idea what a zero hours contract is like to work within and would not know what a Foodbank is.

Its members total second in size to the Chinese National Congress.

We are meant to address these pathetic examples of democracy by the title of Lord or Lady even though they have not earned our respect.

Close the House of Lords. Sack them all. Appoint specialists of the people by community group and profession. Nurses, Policeman, Postman, Refuse Collectors, Carers, Homeless – these are the people. These are the voice of the U.K.

The House of Lords holds back democracy and promotes class division. It is a mistake of modern time. As is a Prime Minister who stands next to a President that promotes torture.

A House of the People would have condemned such a visit.
