My answer to What is something that completely shocked you?

Answer by Desmond Last:

This week my mother who is 87 had to be taken by ambulance to Banbury Horton General Hospital in Oxfordshire in the U.K.

I stayed with my mum everyday because I have no faith in the systems used by the NHS to administer care. Not I might add in the Doctors or Nurses but in the administration systems.

It is as if the administrators of the NHS live in caves with no power and light so outdated and efficient are the systems that they use that they cause pain, suffering and death.

I went for lunch on Wednesday and happened to poke my head round a door. I could not believe what I saw.

If there is a jaw dropping measurement I now hold the World Record.

I was looking at two completely empty wards – fully equipped with beds. Everyday on the U.K News they state ‘ We have no beds’.

This too me is an indication of how dark are the caves that the administrators of the NHS live in.

We are at full capacity in the NHS. Elderly people are in hospital waiting for Social Care. They are waiting in beds needed for Acute Care. You do not have to be a highly paid executive of the NHS to figure it out.

If I were Prime Minister I would sack Jeremy Hunt the senior Cave Dweller and all the senior members of NHS Trusts.

They knew winter was coming why did they not prepare for it? If the Horton has two empty wards and the Radcliffe, which is the area’s main hospital, has senior citizens waiting for social care in acute wards then move them to the Horton.

I cannot believe how inefficient the NHS is. Well actually I can. Because here in the U.K the people will accept anything.

I will not mention that the NHS does not use ISO standards of Quality or we might have a revolution – that is another reason why the NHS is so inefficient.

What is something that completely shocked you?
