My answer to How do I explain to a 5 yr old how "violence is never the answer" yet we still have a military?
Answer by Desmond Last:
“We defend but we do not murder”. Should be the motto of our Military.
You are right in saying violence is not the answer.
The violence of the mass slaughters of creatures who seeking nothing more to provide guidance and joy as dolphins do is also no example to children. Nor is the bombing of civilians, a violence by Governments an answer.
A legal united Military Force to stop any conflict without taking sides as the United Nations should but do not is to defend human rights and promote Peace. The use of a legal overwhelming force and the disarmament of all the warring parties involved is to defend but not murder.
If we want World Peace that is the only way we are going to achieve it.
