My answer to What are your thoughts on peace?

Answer by Desmond Last:

These are my thoughts on Peace.

Peace is relative. One day without bombing in Aleppo is significantly more important in time to the people of Aleppo than to those of us who only watch the nightmare as it continues on our nightly news.

Peace has an urgency for those trapped in conflicts through no choice of their own that those who have never been life-threatened cannot understand.

To Assad Peace means the Assad Time-Machine that has now arrived back in 2011 will enable him to carry on where he left off – a Country's leader who denied his people democracy.

For the United Nations 2016 has been a year where they became impotent and Peace became naught but a long-forgotten Human Rights Agreement.

For Putin 2016 has been a year in which he made a mockery of his meeting with the Pope in 2015.

For the Pope 2016 should have been a lesson. Do not associate with World Leaders who murder children.

For Obama 2016 became the year where his legacy of indecision left thousands drowning in the Mediterranean whilst he played Golf.

There is only one way we will get World Peace. That is we have to be able to hold our Governments to account.

It is our lives, our World they are destroying.

We have three ways of making our Governments stop using people as Human Trade in their pathetic and deadly attempts to gain superiority over each other.

We can get rid of them through the election system, we can prosecute them for ‘Crimes Against Humanity or we began a World Movement to boycott them.

Our Governments cannot exist without our cooperation.

Our revolution can be Peaceful. We do not have to give them air-time, we do not have to drive them, house them , feed them and clothe them. We can withhold our Taxes.

We can act as if they do not exist – for many this is their reality. They may as well have no Government.

2016 has been the year in which our Governments – all of them have ignored the very basic of human rights – the right to life.

If we want World Peace we must be prepared to stand as one People, One World. We must make our Governments listen to us.

We have given them all the Power yet they have not taken the responsibility of ensuring we live in a World of Peace that comes with the Power we have given them.

We the People of the World have all learned a lesson in 2016.

World Peace is too important to the survival of mankind be left to our Governments.
