Answer by Desmond Last:
I have only spent one day in China. I traveled there by train from Hong Kong. One particular system the Chinese have impressed me and I always tell people about it.
In China they have priority queuing for senior citizens. I have never seen it anywhere else. Senior citizens who have worked hard all their lives and paid their taxes deserve to be treated with respect. We should not consign them to the waste bin as they have a wealth of experience to impart.
I applaud China for the respect they show to senior citizens. Here in the U.K senior citizens are seen as a burden not as treasure to be mined for experience and knowledge.
My overall impression of China was limited to one day. From that one day I learned the value of respect.
