Why do the British keep the House of Lords?

My answer to Why do the British keep the House of Lords?

Answer by Desmond Last:

The People of the U.K have never really had a voice. Their democracy has never developed into a modern dynamic that progresses their rights and their empowerment through Social Justice.

If there was a queue for Democracy in the U.K the people would join it but be quite content if it never moved. The People keep the House of Lords because they do not have the voice and means to abolish it.

The U.K is overburdened with Monarch Tradition and Government bureaucracy.

The people are lead to believe that if the Government no longer carries out the will of the people that somehow the House of Lords and the Queen will come to their rescue.

The House Of Lords is used to keep people in check. Once you become a senior figure in the U.K establishment a Peerage is dangled in front of you in order that you maintain the status quo. Once you are a Peer of the Realm you are free to sign in for your £300 a day and never speak a word. You can even show your utter contempt for the people by falling asleep after your champagne and caviar lunch.

There are no nurses, no Police Constables, no returned Afghanistan soldiers, no Postman, nobody on a zero hours contract, no building laborers, nobody in fact of the same social class they represent. Many of them have never been outside their own interests and some are no doubt intellectually challenged by this.

They do not consult with the people. In my experience they do not reply to letters or emails. Most people in the U.K have never met a Lord.

To the rest of the World they are a joke. What is even more unbelievable is that Labour, the party of Socialism has Labour Peers. How they justify this is a Houdini of belief.

They stall the development of democracy. The House of Lords should be abolished and replaced with a Popular Peoples Movement. A House of Community debate for community concerns and the approval of legislation by subject specialization.

There is very little debate by the community in the U.K. May has proven herself to be even worse than Cameron by putting forward an agenda that we the people have had little part in evolving.

It is this lack of National Debate which led to Brexit and a divided Nation.

The House of Lords maintains the Divide and the likes of May and Cameron further increase it.
