Drugs need a user and terrorists need an Ideology. Criminals need a community vulnerable to crime.
Mexico needs an economy that equalizes wealth. Trump has identified the need to address the Problem. But the wall is not going to stop drug use in America.
The price of drugs may go up and the drug trafficking routes may change but those who in America finance drug traffic, and are American not Mexican will find another way.
Many of those who are involved in drugs and crime do it not because they want to, but because they have to. It does not make it right but that is what happens.
For those that use drugs it is the solution to a life which has no hope and future. For others it is the high of a successful week on Wall Street.
Crime thrives where Policing is difficult which is why Police need Community support. That means better training for the Police.
The Wall is only one part of the strategy needed to stop drug use and crime.
For terrorism at the ISIS level it will not make a difference unless Gun laws insist on mandatory training and background checks,
Trump can hardly ask for extreme vetting for those from the Middle East and then let guns be handed out like popcorn to anybody in the U.S.
Mexico needs economic reform and the assistance to achieve that reform.
Obama has been big on talk and small on walk. Trump may be different.
