My answer to Is the ban of "full body bathing suits" a response to a legitimate security threat or is the Mayor of …
Answer by Desmond Last:
Would a Catholic be asked to remove their full suit? Is not the Mayor reacting to the terror attacks in the only way he is able to? I believe that the Mayor has so few options that he has used the Burqa ban to show the people that he cares, and is doing something. I do not blame him I blame Hollande.
Hollande has allowed terrorists, arms and money to flow freely into France with his support of the EU open border policy.
The Mayor is wrong to ban the full body bathing suits.
But whilst France is experiencing their heightened terror alert faces must be seen. But to stop somebody wearing their dress of choice will only create more tension. It will provide more power to right wing elements who want to discriminate against Muslims.
What he has done is to make sure that the Police are going to be in yet another front line as the de facto Government. They will find it even more difficult to get cooperation from the Muslims community.
Intelligence serves need Intel. It comes from the Community. Now is the time when the security services need as much information as possible to track terrorists and locate would be martyrs.
The Mayor has made it more difficult for the Intelligence Services to gather information.
My advice would be to make sure faces can be seen. Instead of disaffecting the Muslim Community reverse the ban and work with them to reduce radicalism.
