My answer to As a car mechanic what is the craziest discovery you have found on an automobile?
Answer by Desmond Last:
I could not stop laughing. I kept looking at the bag of cement expecting it to talk to me or get out of the passenger seat.
I was the co-owner and mechanic of Bicester Road Service Station, Marsh Gibbon, U.K. I was 22.
I was not long out of my apprenticeship and this was my first business. I was carrying out an MOT (annual roadworthy test).
The owner had pulled up in his Reliant 3-wheeler. For which we were the dealer.
I asked him why he had a bag of cement in the passenger seat. He said it was to keep it upright when he went round corners.
Reliant 3-wheelers are a U.K eccentric which are in a lower tax bracket.
Taking them round bend at speed is the closest you can get to inducing a heart attack.
He went on his way. The bag of cement his constant companion.
