My answer to Is there a global problem/issue/crisis that, if solved would put millions out of work?

Answer by Desmond Last:

Yes. War. War makes a few lots of money from the efforts and deaths of many.

Yet there is more money to be made from Peace.

War employs a lot of people but even though war is casued by the minority we the majority have to pay for it.

If we had a world at Peace what will happen to all the Defense Industry workers around the world? What will happen to the Military?

Many would lose their jobs. But not for long.

Peace would ensure they all had work. War is very destructive and diverts technology development.

It is said that war hastens the development of technology. Problem is that you cannot drive a tank to take the kids to school.

As for the military. Climate Change will soon give the military a new role.

The Middle East may seem a long way from America when the military are needed to deal with bush-fires, droughts and floods.

If I was the Military I would start training for Climate Change, and sooner rather than later.

Peace is a dividend we can all enjoy. War is a cost that only profits a few.
