My answer to Is it hard to become wealthy in Australia, if your family is not well off?
Answer by Desmond Last:
No. Australia is still a land of opportunity. I arrived in Australia with $1000. After 23 years of hard work I owned my own boat brokerage; Sydney Boat Sales and two homes.
The fact that the Australian Government and the ANZ Bank acted criminally and I now exist on $107 a week will be a matter for the Courts to judge. I still own one home and am returning to Australia for the court case.
Australia is a land that judges people on their efforts not on their wealth.
I sold boats to multi-millionaires and to those who worked on the shop floor. Each was treated the same and each expected to be treated the same.
I worked in a Gold Mine with the hardest of men and mixed with the Gays in Sydney.
Never once did I feel that my background held me back. Sure there are those who put on their airs and graces but they are not many.
The Politicians think to highly of themselves and seem to live above their intellect. But most Australians tolerate them rather than accept them.
If you are prepared to make money honestly and with hard work then Australia is for you.
There is a low tolerance of people who are d…kh…ds. Other than that go for it.
The photo is of Gladesville Bridge Marina on Sydney Harbour where for 12 years I successfully owned and operated Sydney Boat Sales.
