My answer to Are we winning the battle against global warming?

If you believe your Governments then the answer has to be yes.
The agreement reached in Paris this year provides $100 billion a year from 2020 with the first report back in 2025.
The agreement expects the increasingly negative effects of man-made changes to our climate to be reversed by 2050.
However and it is a big However. The agreement is not mandatory and any signatory can withdraw from the agreement with 12 months notice.
This is from the European Union website “While strictly speaking, Parties are not legally bound at the international level to achieve their targets….”.
The agreement has still to be ratified by at least 55% of the 195 countries who who agreed to it before it comes into force.
The future of our Planet and the future of your Children's Planet is in the hands of fate and the same Governments who gave us Climate Change.
The science behind the agreement is, in my opinion, flawed.
It does not allow for the accelerating rate of negative change that is caused by climate change events ie a severe rainstorm and floods that are themselves factors which increase climate change.
Flooded land becomes toxic, chemicals enter our water systems from agricultural land. Top soil is flooded away and the land becomes more salinated.
The sudden pressure change that occurs as a large mass of moisture leaves the atmosphere has a knock on effect to adjacent pressure systems. Pressure buildup also occurs which explains the rainstorms we are experiencing.
The agreement does not allow for the time lag between positive change ( ie reduction in man-made negative effects) and their interaction with pressure systems that no longer react as they did, when the climate was acting as a interactive system with its own control parameters.
To explain: We are reducing the size of the positive change that takes place in and above the Amazon as carbon dioxide is changed into oxygen. The passing air is cooled and provided with a ratio of air to water that enables other areas to benefit from the Amazon.
Therefore reducing greenhouse by 30/50 percent by 2050 will not be enough or fast enough. Unless we reproduce the lost area of the Amazon and add to it – how are we to provide the same positive changes to our bio-system that the Amazon carried out?
We need a different agreement and a system for achieving the changes that are needed to save the Planet and mankind.
There is no system in the Agreement. It is all based on committees and protocols that are not binding.
Until we have verified sources of information independent of Government and Business and a audited system of change I believe we are not winning the battle against climate change.
