My answer to What is the best way to educate yourself on important topics such as terrorism, poverty and economics?
Answer by Desmond Last:
Do not watch the BBC ITV, the Australian ABC, or CNN or FOX.
What you will be watching is what they have decided your view of the World will be. Personally I would not trust any media or Journalist from any Western Government.
I can speak with authority as I am probably one of the most media censored people in the World.
In my eight years of writing for the betterment of our World, with new ideas that not one Government have ever had, I have not been reported – not once.
I have protested outside 10 Downing Street, Parliament House Canberra Australia and NSW Parliament Sydney NSW. Once with 12 stunning models with a new idea for Ambulance Driving Safety, I marched past the Channel 7 studio on the way to the NSW Parliament in the center of Sydney – not one media reported me.
I have emailed all world media and posted on their Facebook Pages – zero nothing.
There are Journalists on Quora – they do not report me.
I would rather get my news from Social Network news and by getting a wide range of information using Bing.
I would say that if you do have to rely on news channels use at least 4–5 from different parts of the world.
The absolute worst are the BBC and ITV. Avoid them like the plague so to any U.K and Australian newspapers.
Terrorism is a difficult one because we are blocked from so much. Why I have no idea. We are capable of making our own minds up. For an insight into ISIS try The Islamic State's (ISIS, ISIL) Magazine | Clarion Project
The other way is to use Quora and its message system. I have received information that I would not normally find. The comments you get when you answer a question allow you to develop contacts. Facebook is ok but it has a problem dealing with trolls.
