My answer to If humans were extinct and cows populated the earth, will global warming continue?
Answer by Desmond Last:
Methane produced by cows is a gas produced naturally. It is not produced in a concentrated form like the chemicals we put into our bio-system, It is not produced at the same time every morning by long queues of cars and trucks at drive-time all over the world. It is not produced in concentrated clusters such as Cities. It does not produce the bi-products of toxic uncertainty that man-made chemicals do. It is not emitted into a Pressure System which concentrates and changes its natural absorption rate ie a factory chemical stack stack. It is not dispersed into water as a toxic chemical so it can remain in the ground in concentrated form. Have you ever heard a Radio Station making the following announcement – “Will all persons passing by the Herd of Cows on the A21 bypass in the first field on the left wear their gas-masks to ensure that they do not inhale the cloud of methane”. But you will see the Citizens of Beijing wear masks to stop the toxic fumes from Chemical pollution entering their lungs. However it cannot be denied that methane adds to the absorption of radiated heat from the sun into our atmosphere. But do not let those who want to shift blame away from handmade cause of Climate Change to a herd of cows. Methane is only responsible for 15 – 20 per cent of greenhouse gases so the answer to your question is no. But your question is a big one as it raises the question of how many people can this Planet feed without mankind becoming extinct. When I first started writing about Climate Change 8 years ago the first question I said that had to be answered was ‘What is the Optimum Size of each countries population?’ Here I am still writing and nobody has answered the question and not one Government or Journalist has ever spoken to me or reported me. Why? As the population increases we need more food. More meat, more land, less trees and more Climate Change. So we need to change our eating habits – this is changing as red meat becomes cancer inducing due to the chemicals in our bio-system. So soon Farmers will wake-up about Climate Change. But we
need to tackle the Population Question before it is too late and that is also a Question for Pope Francis to deal with. http://www.desmondlast.com
